  1. Never have I been further from India
than I am at this very moment

but I smell the mud and hear the noisy mothers
    nagging their children.

The boy wants his picture taken and the photographer
will oblige provided the boy hold,

in his free hand, the rusty metal pole
taken from the pile of debris falling

from the building behind him. It’s the color
of a New England sunset, the orange plastic

gun. Put it to your ear like a sea shell
listen for the melodies of Purandara Dasa.

  7. Your pictures kept showing up on Facebook walls around the world today…finished reading your entire blog. A rare co-mingling of enthralling images and clever writing. Brilliant work!

While never losing impact, I also enjoy your poetic ease of finding humor in the gaps of the atrocious and poignant…perhaps that should concern me?

  9. / TJ, I feel u on that. The Writing’s On The Wall was Destiny’s Child’s best album, hands down. But Survivor ushered in a whole new era. The era of the innependedt women. I think they did things on that album that a lot of girl groups are STILL trying to emulate, even in the simplest sense of making a single anthem. This album had a few. And I agree, Dangerously In Love should’ve made the cut. sammy I could see adding Elephunk, that was a dope album. The Black album to me didn’t live up to the hype. I’d put Dangerously In Love up before I add B’Day. Late Registration over College Dropout though? Hmmmm that’s a good one .

  10. I just stumbled upon your site after snieeg a wedding picture of Tara Schweitzer. Beautiful stuff! This session in particular, I fell in total love with the picture of them on the bike with her on the handlebars, and then the vintage one of the kiss while holding the wedding date card prop!! Love love love!
